Why does the cone crusher always fail to reach the design value?

Cone crusher is a crushing equipment for materials with medium hard and above that is commonly used in mine crushing equipment, and it is widely used. There are three main factors affecting the production capacity of cone crushers: the number of swings of the crushing cone; the length of the parallel crushing area; and the size of the meshing angle. These three aspects directly determine the output of the cone crusher.

  01, the number of swings of the crushed ore cone

   The number of swings of the crushing cone is one of the key factors affecting the capacity of the crusher.

   Due to the limitation of the meshing angle of the crushing cavity and the parallel discharge area, the crushed ore is discharged along the conical slope mainly by gravity and vibration. When the number of rotations of the main shaft increases, the ore is easy to be discharged, but if the number of rotations is too high, it is not conducive to discharging the ore, and sometimes it will cause a runaway and unable to produce. Therefore, the number of swings of the broken wall has a certain restrictive effect on the increase in productivity.

  02, the length of the parallel crushing area

   Parallel crushing area is a guaranteed area for the uniform particle size of the cone crusher. The crushing capacity is related to the thickness of the material layer in the parallel zone, and there is also a direct relationship between the thickness of the material layer and the size of the discharge port. The increase in the length of the parallel zone is conducive to the control of particle size, but the discharge capacity is relatively reduced; the reduction in the length of the parallel zone is conducive to discharging, but the granularity of crushed ore is not easy to guarantee.

   There are three types of cone crushers (the length of the parallel zone is different): standard, short head, and medium. At the same time, because the productivity of the crusher is mainly related to factors such as the nature of the ore, the performance of the machine, the specifications and the operating conditions of the crusher, it is also related to the configuration of the crusher in the production process, so other conditions remain unchanged. Under the circumstances, changing the operating conditions (adjusting the size of the discharge opening of the cone crusher) will change the productivity of the crusher.

  03, the size of the meshing angle

  The angle between the rolling mortar wall of the cone crusher and the crushing wall is called the meshing angle. The meshing angle is generally 22-23°, and the maximum is 27°.

  The type of crushing cavity from the feed port to the discharge port is affected by the angle of engagement and at the same time limited by the height of the crusher. The relative change in the cavity volume of the crusher has a certain impact on the crushing efficiency.

Theoretically, if the meshing angle is too large, the ore will easily slip in the crushing cavity, reducing the production capacity, and at the same time increasing the wear of the liner and power consumption; if the meshing angle is too small, the crushing cavity will be too small and the amount of ore contained The relative decrease will affect the output and increase the manufacturing cost of the equipment and the height of the machine.

  Combining the above three factors, except that the number of swings of the broken wall has been determined according to the characteristics of the equipment and is not easy to change, the other two factors can be changed to a certain extent, so as to achieve the purpose of increasing production or reducing discharge particle size. Therefore, the transformation of the cone crusher can be achieved through the method of cavity structure transformation.
